Eudaimonia’s Austin Sober Living Apartments:
Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

These are unprecedented times we are living through and 2020 has certainly been a challenging year for all of us. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that you may have concerns about how we are maintaining resident health and safety at our Austin sober living apartments.

We acknowledge that your concerns are valid and we want you to know that take them very seriously. We have taken several intentional steps to ensure that all of our current and incoming residents remain safe and healthy while living at our sober living apartments.

Below, we’ve provided more details about how we are protecting our residents, staff, and incoming clients from harm amid this global pandemic.

COVID Screening Procedures

Each new resident who applies to live at Eudaimonia’s sober living apartments in Austin will be screened for COVID symptoms. New residents must also complete a COVID questionnaire to rule out any potential that they are carrying the virus. Any individuals who do not pass our initial screening process will be referred to company leadership for approval into our sober living apartments or they may be denied residency at that time.

Limited Room Occupancy

Each of our sober living apartment units is currently housing two residents maximum. This means all new clients can expect to share an apartment with one other resident who has already been pre-screened for COVID symptoms and has completed our COVID questionnaire to assess their risk of carrying the virus.

Single-Unit Air Conditioners

There has been very little research conducted on the role that air conditioners play in spreading the novel coronavirus. However, many systems recirculate indoor air into different areas of a building, which could potentially spread the virus. Given the concerns about airborne transmission, we want to note that each individual apartment at our Austin facility has its own air conditioning unit. Therefore, residents should not worry about airborne virus-containing droplets spreading from apartment to apartment.

No Large Social Gatherings

Living at Eudaimonia’s apartment complex is not like living in a college dorm. Our facility is designed to provide the typical apartment-living experience, plus recovery programming and support services. As such, residents generally keep to themselves, and there are no large social gatherings, parties, or events taking place at the apartment complex.

Strict Quarantine Procedures

If a resident shows symptoms of COVID-19 or receives a positive test result, Eudaimonia staff will relocate him to another unit where he can effectively quarantine away from other residents. Immediate contract tracing and testing will follow to ensure the ongoing safety and health of other residents who may have come into contact with the infected individual.

In addition to these measures, we are also committed to protecting the health and safety of all our residents and staff by doing the following things:

  • Adhering to all CDC and local health department guidelines
  • Providing staff training on proper hygiene, handwashing, and infection control
  • Establishing organized sanitation and disinfection procedures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Modifying programming and recovery support services to limit potential exposure
  • Requiring that all staff and residents practice social distancing and wear a mask when they are in public areas of the apartment complex

Transitioning to a sober living program can be stressful under normal circumstances, let alone during a pandemic. That said, we are all in this together and we are here to support you as you seek to continue your sober journey. We are always available to address your concerns and questions so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
